Brazilian unrest won’t affect World Youth Day, organiser assures

RIO DE JANEIRO (CWN) — Riots in Brazilian cities are not posing any danger to plans for World Youth Day (WYD) celebrations in July, the chief coordinator of English-language events has told Vatican Radio.

“Nobody anticipates that there will be any problems going forward,” said Fr Michael Rogers. The Jesuit priest said that people traveling to Brazil for WYD should be aware of the unrest in the country, but “people should be rarin’ to go” for the WYD celebration.
