CHRISTCHURCH The parish of St Paul in Dallington marked the beginning of the Pauline Year with a choral Mass celebrated by Bishop Barry Jones, after which he unveiled and blessed a commemorative plaque. The artist, Norah Southorn, created the work with the help of husband Graeme as a visual aid designed to help parishioners and students of the school learn more about the life, journeys and teachings of St Paul.
I hope it will whet appetites to find out more about St Pauls writings. They help us discern what is really important not riches, power, acquisitions, status or success, but the way we live our lives, she said.
The plaque features extracts from St Pauls letters, a first century AD map, symbols such as a cross, broadsword and Roman ship, and a modern bound book which links history with the present, symbolising the power of Gods Word through the centuries.
During the Pauline Year, the parish will host a series of public lectures on the life and ministry of St Paul.
