Bishop Lowe asks families to reflect

Auckland Bishop Stephen Lowe has called on Catholic families to reflect on their vocation as families.

Bishop Lowe made the call in a video message posted on the Auckland diocese website marking the week of the World Meeting of Families in Rome. The meeting was held on June 22-26 and had the theme “Family love: a vocation and a path to holiness”.

“Many years ago, The Beatles sang the song all you need it love. But families know how challenging that call can be,” Bishop Lowe said. “All you need is love, but in these times, it’s harder than ever.”

Bishop Lowe asked families here to have their own “meetings in your family to talk about your family love”.

“Reflect together how that caused you to grow together as a family as your vocation. And also
. . . reflect on how Jesus is a part of your family, because he wants to make all of us holy. That means coming to the fulness of love and life,” he said.

The bishop ended his message with a blessing offered to the families.
