New vicar general for Hamilton diocese

Bishop Stephen Lowe has appointed Fr Leonard Danvers as vicar-general of Hamilton diocese.
Fr Danvers, who is the parish priest in Taupo, was ordained to the presbyterate in 1974 at Manurewa.
He served as a deacon in Howick and Hillsborough in Auckland before being appointed as assistant priest at Papatoetoe and Tauranga.
Subsequent appointments were at the cathedral, Mt Maunganui, Rotorua (St Mary’s), Whakatane and Taupo.
In the mid-1980s, Fr Danvers studied at Boston College in the United States.
