Forty young people from various Auckland Legion of Mary praesidia spent the first weekend
of December in silent retreat.
The retreat theme was, “The Legion colour is red for the Holy Spirit”.
The children learnt that emotions are there to help us, but at times we must rise above our
emotions and be virtuous people — and that’s hard work!
When we are virtuous we are strong and our conduct is more likely to be good. This is when
the Holy Spirit can move us to holy works for God.

The first Annual Junior Legion of Mary Retreat for Auckland Central was held at the Hillsborough Friary from December 5 to 7.

The group talked about the fruiting tree of good works and how the Holy Spirit is the sap
that feeds our fruits of good works.
They prayed and had Mass each day, and a Holy Hour on Saturday night.
Everyone left the retreat on fire with the Holy Spirit for another fruitful year in their praesidia.
Their first annual Legion retreat was a great success. And they are looking forward to next
year’s retreat already.
