HAMILTON — Around 100 Hamiltonians have been turning up at the Cathedral of the Blessed
Virgin Mary in Hamilton to attend its latest evangelisation programme,Catholics Listening to
God.

The seven-week DVD based programme consists of talks by Australian Archbishop Mark Coleridge and looks at the importance of Scripture, Tradition and the teachings of the Church.
The Tuesday evening programme has been promoted throughout Hamilton City in parish newsletters. The programme is free to attend.
The final session of Catholics Listening to God will be on Tuesday July 1.
Sessions have covered, or will cover, the Word of God, The Book of God, Praying the Bible,
Sharing the Bible, the Tradition of the Church, the Teaching of the Church, and the Mission of the Church.

Archbishop Coleridge, the Archbishop of Brisbane, was appointed to the Pontifical Council
for Social Communications in 2011. His Australian sense of humour as well as his down-to-earth manner appear to be appreciated by those who are taking part in the programme, and make
the programme easy to understand.
Cathedral parish priest Fr Philip Billing said he is pleased with the turnout, the liveliness
of discussion and reflection afterwards, and the diversity of attendees.
“It’s great to see so many people from all over the city attend,” he said.
“The cathedral comes alive each Tuesday evening, and Hamilton City faithful are getting to
know both God and each other beyond Sunday Mass.”
Each session starts at 7.30pm with prayer, followed by a DVD viewed from the pews. Afterwards, attendees split into small, informal groups for facilitated discussion and reflection.
The evening finishes around 9pm.
Fr Billings and the cathedral parish, in Hamilton East, invite Hamiltonians — and anybody
else interested — to live the faith by coming to Mass each Sunday; to know the faith by participating in new evangelisation programmes such as Catholics Listening to God and to share the faith by spreading the Good News and doing as Jesus would do.
