Group makes new push for euthanasia

CHRISTCHURCH — Right to Life says that it has come to their attention that the Volunteer Euthanasia Society has created a new label entitled “End-of-Life Choice” for their campaign in support of Labour MP Maryann Street’s euthanasia bill, itself euphemistically titled End-of-Life Choice bill (the private members bill sits awaiting the next draw in the ballot box).
According to Right to Life spokesman Ken Orr, the euthanasia society has imported a spokeswoman (Yvonne Shaw from Oregon) to support their cause, “and we understand they may be starting a national speaking tour”.
The first meeting appears to be in Whangarei, with a public meeting to be held in the Cafler Room, Forum North, Whangarei, from 7pm on November 1, Mr Orr said.
“Right to Life is urging those who oppose euthanasia to attend the meeting to express their viewpoint.”
Right to Life also understands that Ms Shaw recently had an opinion piece published in the Southland Times saying that we have nothing to fear from euthanasia, said Mr Orr.
“Please contact us at Right to Life if we can be of any help with further information regarding this issue.”
