AUCKLAND New Zealands Sr Jane Frances OCarroll, SM, has been chosen as the new superior-general of the Marist Sisters. Sr Jane, who is currently the regional leader of the orders Asia-Pacific region, which incorporates Aotearoa-New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and the Philippines, was elected during the Marist Sisters general chapter in Rome last month.

Over more than 40 years, Sr Jane has worked in education in New Zealand, Australia and Italy. She has also been involved in initial formation ministry, preparing and giving renewals, spiritual direction and retreats.

She will be the orders 13th superior-general.
