“Things are bubbling and the pot is coming to the boil,” Mr Pervan told NZ Catholic, adding that there is a need to stress that the college is still up and running.

He observed that the Lord worked in mysterious ways. As soon as one door closed, another one opened.

In a statement the CDC released, Mr Pervan announced that the college is welcoming the Xavier Project, a group of four lay missionaries from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, who will be occupying the Pukekohe premises.

“They will be eagerly waiting for nine international students to come and join them to be trained for the next six months as Disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is CDC as we have least expected it,” he said in the statement.

Mr Pervan said they are also in discussions with the New Zealand bishops to get more support for CDC.

“After consultations with the New Zealand bishops’ conference, particularly through Bishop Stephen Lowe from Hamilton, negotiations are proceeding to obtain the services of an appointed spiritual director and the board is preparing for the day when we can appoint a new manager/household leader to take us into the future,” he said.

Mr Pervan thanked all who have supported CDC and continue to do so.

“Your continued donations over the past few months have not gone unappreciated, every cent has been used to get us to this point,” he said.

“Your contributions to CDC over the years have allowed us to pay our staff. We call upon all faithful lovers of CDC to continue supporting us so that such a new appointment can be made,” he added.

He also called on the faithful to continue praying for CDC and the Xavier Project.
