I am glad you wrote this article. I did not know Cardinal Pell personally but as a student at the North American College, I heard him preach. He was held in high regard by many. I still remember the homily he gave during the Lenten season of 2009. He is a fair, even-handed, human being.

I am troubled too by these allegations because the words that I heard at church that day from the pulpit came from a very thoughtful person. I was left with the impression that he thought before he acted, thought before he spoke, and that when he spoke he was sure to speak the truth, with clarity.

I don’t know. I could be wrong, but I find the allegations troubling as well.
