Rather than ask why fewer attend, perhaps you should ask why people attend in the first place. You as well as I know that if religion were introduced at 18 instead of from birth, religion would essentially disappear in a generation. The psychological underpinnings of religion, and the continuous march forward in understanding the universe based on evidence and reason, are things that are undeniable. Either threaten the fundamentalism of the Middle East, or embrace the secular world as Europe gas learned to do.
