There should more discussion about the issues affecting the direction of the Catholic Church. However in this ever changing and uncertain world, the core teachings of the church must be remain a constant guide for us to follow at all times. Personally I have no problem with people with of different gender preferences being part of our church. We are often called to be treated as equal to each other and in the eyes of God. We are also called to come ‘as we are’ whenever and wherever we attend mass. I believe that it means that we are all seeking to be a part of heaven. This is regardless of gender orientation and sexual preference. What I do not like is the pervasive political correctness which is slowly poisoning the meaning of marriage and the human relationship based on love. I believe it is alright to have couples say they are boyfriends, girlfriends, boyfriend and girlfriend, husbands, wives and husband and wife. I think this is one of the things that still has a high value in the church and in society. When the human relationship becomes a partnership, it becomes something of monetary value. It becomes a business transaction with a business minded end. The relationship becomes one based on a material value. This is in contradiction to the human value in relationships.

Regardless of the outcome of this year’s may we and our church leaders reflect on these synods in the years to come. May we leave a better path for the next generations to follow.

By the will, mercy and grace of God
Amen
