Marriage is the result, and the result holds regardless of whether the two people entering it are of the same or differing sexes. It’s especially laughable that Mr. Carson believes that being treated equally under the law is an “extra right,” and particularly tone-deaf given that Mr. Carson is African-American and should know that separate is never equal. Moreover, it’s easy to say, as he does, that one is “for equal rights,” but actions speak much louder than words. Mr. Carson has never advocated for any equality for same-sex relationships, not even for the less-than-equal first step of civil unions.
