I don’t know if this will reach you, I just googled your name after reading “Live plays rarely make for successful TV viewing.”in CathNews and wish to thank you. I had felt that watching a man all alone at the altar was not attending mass for me, however I did find a mass I could attend (albeit too late at night to zoom, so Monday mornings have become the new Sunday for me.) I attend the Sunday mass at Bonnevaux, the centre in France for the World Community of Christian Meditation. There are about 8 women and men in lockdown there who attend at the celebration of mass by Laurence Freeman. I could and did join in the singing of the kirie led by a woman, the psalms by a young man with his guitar, and anything else once I have an idea of the melody, if not the words (sometimes in French). I join them quietly in the responses and prayers. Fr Laurence gives a reflection on each reading, and after communion we are one together in 15minutes of silent prayer. (It could be called communion, not to be mistaken for the Eucharist of course).

I definitely feel like part of a community, and when there was a farewell to one of the French women a couple of weeks ago I felt a sharp, momentary loss. I see some new people have joined now, I presume their level of lockdown must have changed.

If you wish to experience this Contemplative Mass you will find them on YouTube by typing in Contemplative Mass. The first reading is in French so it pays to have read it first.
I do hope you enjoy this Mass
Raewyn
